VOICE ACT FT. JIM BLACK

VOICE ACT is a project created from the initiative of Anna Gadt. Its premise was to create a community voice story woven from four distinct female temperaments; their histories, experiences, and roots - folk, classical, jazz, contemporary or free music. The matter of the music created here is the human voice as an expression of subjectivity and individuality. It is a voice that can be heard and listened to, primal in its expression, without the support of instruments or the participation of electronics. Improvising voices intermingle, resound, appear and fade out, exist together and separately, creating a multi-threaded, narrative structure.

Jim Black is at the forefront of a new generation of musicians bringing jazz into the 21st century. In addition to being one of the most influential drummers of our time, he is also the leader of one of the world's most forward-thinking bands, AlasNoAxis, featuring his longtime collaborators Chris Speed, Hilmar Jensson and Skúli Sverrisson. Based on the foundation of his virtuosic but highly personal approach to jazz drumming, Black's aesthetic has expanded to include Balkan rhythms, rock songcraft and laptop soundscapes.
